eric burdon: spill the wine

Even when he\’s shit he is still worth listening to. Kind of like Miles Davis, but a good deal less black. And, like Miles, I really don\’t remember a time when he could be described as unmitigatedly shit. He\’s taken a bruising in light of the unfashionably pale colour of his skin over the years, but in spite of his sometimes regrettable alacrity in identifying so emphatically with those once bound by the chains of slavery I feel his heart and soul have always been in the right place.

Of the following, \”Just The Thought\” from 1968\’s \”The Twain Shall Meet\” is unusually restrained and genuinely eerie if you are unfamiliar with it. Psychedelic class.

ERIC BURDON: SPILL THE WINE from \”Eric Burdon Declares \’War\’\” LP (MGM) 1970 (US)

ERIC BURDON & WAR: SUN / MOON from \” The Black-Man\’s Burdon\” LP (MGM) 1971 (US)

ERIC BURDON: MONTEREY from \”The Twain Shall Meet\” LP (MGM) 1968 (US)

ERIC BURDON & THE ANIMALS: JUST THE THOUGHT from \”The Twain Shall Meet\” LP (MGM) 1968 (US) ERIC BURDON DECLARES \’WAR\’ THE BLACK-MAN\’S BURDON / ERIC BURDON & WAR WINDS OF CHANGE / THE TWAIN SHALL MEET REMASTERED
