IGGY POP: I'M BORED from "New Values" LP (Arista) 1979 (US)

With much of his first album for new label, Arista rendered all but unlistenable by some horrendous production - punctuated by an unhealthy reliance on synthesizer and tinny drum machine patterns - one could easily dispense with the LP proper and shell out instead on its two 45's; this being the first.

In the aftermath of his 'divorce' from David Bowie, the decision to delegate production to former Stooge, James Williamson might - in hindsight - have been unwise.

Scott Thurston steps into Ron Ashetons shoes on second guitar.

I'm bored.

I know what you mean: I'm looking for one New Value, but nothing comes my way...

Well. I'm just riffing on Iggy's line.

Clinically depressed is probably a more accurate diagnosis. It's a January thing.

By the way. I prefer the new 'avatar' to the old one.
