canto libre, jimmy

Por mi hermano, Löst jimmy, currently "operating" out of Central Mexico. Accompanied by Banda; Reggeton; and the "smell of overly strong coffee and

fat laden baking".

Not so much breaking bad as bread.

A traditional Mexican song performed by Víctor Jara in the company of Inti-Illimani and Patricio Castillio.

Muchas Gracias mi Hermano!

I dig the photo of Pancho Villa!

Thank you for this fine fine post, you may be glad to note that I have made it back to Caledonia in one piece, back that is to the grind and the neighbours! I had to grin at your comment about the fat laden baking, in all my trips to Mexico I never fail to be amazed at their ability to out outfatten cooking Scots. Needless to say I took food poisoning while out there, 14 trips out of 15 I succumbed to Moctezuma's Revenge.

Interestingly while out there I was reading in the Mexican press about The Chieftains latest collaboration with Ry Cooder, a Mexican-Irish themed album entitled San Patricio.

Hope your week is going well

By the way I thoroughly enjoy the Victor Jara song you posted up. Jara has been the subject of many many songs and tributes one of my favourites is the great song by Argentine band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs entitled "Matador". Interestingly, one of wife's aunts in Mexico City retains a framed picture of Jara and Allende on the wall of her living room

Hey! Glad you made it back in one piece.

It is fitting to hear that your wife's aunt has kept a framed photo of Jara. Like an icon. I will have to keep an ear out for Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.
