paint box

DB 8310. a continental imprint. spain perhaps ?

"Last night I had too much to drink
Sitting in a club with so many fools
Playing to rules

Trying to impress but feeling rather empty

I had another drink

Drink - a - drink - a - drink - a - drink

What a way to spend that evening

They all turn up with their friends

Playing the game

But in the scene I should have been

Far away

Away - away - away - away - away

Getting up, I feel as if
I'm remembering this scene
I open the door to an empty room
Then I forget

- rick wright.

I read it on Raiding The Vinyl Archive first. I still haven't seen the news; read a paper, or watched anything breaking on tv. I'm slow to catch on.

Released November 18, 1967. Written and sung by Richard Wright.

Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band gains a keyboard player.

Drop John and Aunty. Arga Warga. Zigger Zagger.

I don't know why but Paint Box and Point me at the Sky were always my favourites from the early Floyd.A good tribute to the man.

Rick's sister used to be the music teacher at my wife's school up to a few years ago. She now suffers from Parkinson's disease which may explain the very restrained announcement of Rick's death

Thank you for your contribution on this one, peewit.

It's a very welcome detail regarding Rick's sister, too. And very sad. It does help explain things. And makes me feel all too mortal too.

It's ironic that my post yesterday was regarding cancer. It puts Mike from "Raiding The Vinyl Archive"'s comment into very stark relief. I had no idea.

Thanks, bro.

RIP Mr. Wright.
I have always been a huge Pink Floyd fan. Missed my chance to see the band proper back in The Wall era because I didn't have $10 for a ticket!
Saw them plenty in various incarnations since then.

Last week, David Gilmour was quoted as Pink Floyd would never reunite. It was thought that this was due his relationship with Roger Waters. Now we know the truth.
