Geez man - Wreckless Eric! I saw him at a small , but wildly popular, venue in Boston call the Paradise when he first toured. Always struck me as an average Joe, but he could get my barely drinking age blood to rush!
Whole Wide World is a track I played so often at parties that everyone in my wide circle knew who it was by the time I was through. While the banality of the charts kept the masses suspended in a nyquil stupor, most anyone on Stiff reminded us that our limbs were free to flail.
Nice story, WZJN. This 45 charted in the lower regions here in the UK with a Top Of The Pops appearance I seem to recall, but I'm not entirely sure. He had his moments, and this was probably the finest. Up until that sad day Jake Riviera walked from partner, Dave Robinson to set up Radar in '78 or 9, Stiff was a splendid label.
There is a great recent BBC documentary on Stiff circulating on British TV right now. Worth watching if you come across it. A very funny story of the Damned invading the Stiff offices en masse in an attempt to collect royalties/cash owed them which ends with Dave Robinson chasing them through Notting Hill with a baseball bat.

I haven't heard ANY of these in fact. Die Toten Hausen's version is very faithful, but packs quite a punch. Pretty good...
The Flakes' take tickle me too, with that guitar shiver which recalls the Heartbreakers more than the Stones. Cheers!
