elvis presley

... a dozen towns ago.

An Eddie Rabbitt & Dick Heard composition from the "Elvis In Memphis" sessions, recorded one month after his spectacularly successful 1968 Comeback Special.

Pick up thy cane and step on the plane.

Hey dude, thanks for the song, and great photo! I have some kind of weird downloaded bootleg CD with this song on it, as well as the classic "You're Wearin' That Loved On Look".

Eddie Rabbitt, huh? It all comes together.

Hey Emmett, glad you like it! The 45 version is immense of course - but this take is really interesting as it cuts down on the orchestral arrangement. I must admit I miss the backing singers, though. Elvis's vocal is superb on both versions; The "Elvis In Memphis" sessions were the pinnacle of his recording career in my opinion.

Eddie Rabbitt: I love a rainy night. Clearly he has water on the brain!
